The Seven-Filter Map for the German IT Market

The German IT market can look contradictory. On the one hand, companies talk about talent shortages, digitalization, hiring difficulties and the need for technical teams. On the other hand, an individual candidate can send applications for weeks and receive silence or standard rejections.

This does not always mean the candidate is bad. And it does not mean that “Germany does not need IT professionals”. More often, the problem is different: general market demand and a specific hiring decision about one candidate operate on different levels.

The market may need people in general. But a specific company still evaluates a specific role, stack, experience level, language, documents, timing, proof and hiring risk.

So instead of asking “Does Germany need IT professionals?”, a more useful question is:

Does my profile pass the filters of a specific German employer?

Below is a seven-filter map for reading the German IT market before sending another round of applications.
